Case Study - Delvita Czech and Slovak RepublicDelvita, member of Delhaize Group, is the chain of supermarkets in Czech and Slovak republic. Kodys developed application for following applications in Delvita:
Price Mark Down The system is designed for easy operation by stuff of supermarket. Supervisor selects from the database of the goods items to be discounted and performs application to printing list of labels with encoded discounted price at internal barcode EAN13. These labels are stuck over standard barcode generated by producer of the goods. This one prevents misunderstandings during reading barcodes on point of sale. Because Delvita is operating small and middle size of markets, there is installed one desktop barcode label printer Zebra TLP2844-Z per each market. Ordering and Inventory The requirement fro Delvita was to enable ordering of the goods and performing inventory with using barcode. Every packed goods is marked by barcode EAN8 or EAN13. Every shelf is marked by shelf label with current price and internal barcode. This one enables to use mobile terminals; so all operations are done on the area of the store. The application on mobile terminal is developed to enable visual checking – after scanning of barcode there is displayed on mobile terminal the name and other information about the goods. After it, the operator enters required information related to the action (for example quantity of ordered goods). When the operation is finished, the data are downloaded form mobile terminal to PC and imported to store management information system. Because of the size of the market the system was developed for batch terminals Symbol PDT3100. It is reliable device with ideal operation on retail applications with about 10 thousands of items in the database of the goods. Due to increasing quantity of records in database of the goods and request to provide on-line information there is potential to upgrade this system to be able to communicate through wireless network. Benefit of the system for Delvita Benefit of the system for Delvita On previous times there was every discounted goods labelled by hand written label without barcode. After the implementation of the system customer has clear inventory of discounted goods and saving time during checking-out. Operations done by mobileterminal enabled to increase productivity of the operator and reduce number of mistake during inventory and ordering of the goods. Download:
