Implementation of solution that enables to track and report production processes based on automatic identification systems

CNH is one of the biggest producer of farming and construction machines in the world. CNH equipment is distributed in eleven countries in a chain that consists of 11 000 dealers. The major stockholder of CNH Global, noted on New York stock market, is Italian Fiat concern. In Europe, both Americas and Asia it owns 41 factories. Polish branch in Płock is one of the key factories of the concern. Almost every fourth tractor bought in Poland comes from Płock.

As the only producer of harvester combines in Poland and one of the first in the concern, CNH Poland decided to facilitate report and supervision system, to be based on automatic identification devices.

The company set two business goals – creation of report system in real time for production planning and information portal for customers to follow production stages of ordered machines.

‘The contract for this project was granted to IBCS Poland and Income, who presented a solution based on Motorola devices. The offer was the most complex one and fully suited to our needs. IBCS Poland and Income have a team of experienced specialists, and their experience was a warranty of success of this enterprise.” – said Stanisław Basiewicz, IT Director in CNH Poland.

“We have gathered experience in implementing mobile products in manufacturing for many years. In each enterprise, we perform a deep analysis of customer’s needs. As a result, the final offer fulfills their requirements perfectly. This was the situation in this case too. We presented a full offer of Motorola product and dedicated software managing mobile system to our Customer.” – said Jacek Cyran, Director of Customer Service in IBCS Poland.

Finally, the contract included installation of radio network based on Motorola WS5100 switch, equipping factory floor workers with MC9090 mobile terminal and installation of Zebra label printers. This was a pilot project in the whole concern.

“In our factory, we collect enormous amount of data on production, shipment and delivery of finished goods. Mobile computers allowed to facilitate reporting from production and settlement of components. In production floor of harvesting machines, where we have a lot of high power devices, such as cranes, laser cutting machines, lifts, multi-level lines transporting machine components, large interferences generated by welding machines and pressure welding machines occur. Motorola equipment works flawlessly in CNH production conditions.” – said Stanisław Basiewicz, IT Director in CNH Poland.

In the contract, IBCS Poland and Income have delivered to CNH not only equipment, but also application for mobile terminals, communication server and BaaN system interface, designed with icDispatcher platform that allows creation and management of mobile system. icDispatcher allows navigation and management of external devices, such as terminals with barcode reader, pocketPC and barcode printers.

icDispatcher allows to design visualization and functionality of screens on external devices and add new screed as needs change. Thanks to this, the users of external system can use the system directly on mobile terminals with barcode scanners.

“The implemented solution provides current data flow between production and central management system. Thanks to use of Motorola mobile technology, which is radio network and wireless terminals, it is possible to track and control production progress. The system allows to eliminate errors and interferences occurring in production process almost completely. Operating the solution requires minimal effort, which is essential when it comes quality and stability of the system.” – said Stanisław Basiewicz, IT Director in CNH Poland.

One of the effects of the implementation is a signed contract of technical support and service in 24/7 standard.
