Implementation of warehouse management system in Nutrend, a.s.

Until recently, NUTREND, a.s., as the leading Czech manufacturer of sports supplements, nutrition, food services and special products for athletes, was able to manage warehouse operations with a simple economic ERP system which was becoming to be insufficient for the planned expansion of production and logistics facilities.

NUTREND, a.s. was founded in 1993 and currently employs over 200 employees in Czech Republic. Due to a dramatic increase of production and warehouse capacity, it was necessary to implement a comprehensive and reliable solution that will automatically manage all processes, inventories and supplies into one ERP system which was a HighJump Warehouse Edge (formerly Accellos One Warehouse WMS).

Therefore, the targets were obvious. The existing economic ERP had to be unloaded. The goods layout had to be optimized in the warehouse and all processes had to be prepared for further warehouse expansion. The last but not least was to ensure a higher picking speed and eliminating errors. The deployment of HighJump Warehouse Edge was preceded by a profound analysis of all warehouse processes and the implementation took approximately 3 months. Among other things, the project included design and implementation of a wireless network for storage areas, a complete supply of Zebra products – from mobile terminals to thermal transfer printers, consumables supply and complete marking of storage locations.

The key benefits of HighJump Warehouse Edge (formerly Accellos One Warehouse) are: automatic identification of goods including batch, expiration and language mutations throughout all processes. This significantly reduces errors in handling the goods in the warehouse. The result of this project was increase the warehouse efficiency by 15% with almost zero errors. There was the possibility of expanding the warehouse capacity from 1800 pallet places to 5000. Another goal that has been accomplished was partition of storage areas into the zones and a simple system configuration when the warehouse is expanded with process changes.
