Technology in hospitality and gastronomy trade is evolving fast, from such specialist solution as cable TV, video surveillance, cable and wireless access to Internet and communication, to convergent IP net. Nowadays, many – if not all – of these services and applications are delivered via a convergent infrastructure cable and wireless net IP. Such convergence significantly simplifies management and lowers maintenance costs.

However, the true power of IP net is the possibility to integrate different services and functions through applications, thanks to which completely new services, previously not even imagined, are offered. Some examples are: the information about the moment of guest’s arrival, his name and status in loyalty program. Personalised treatment allows to create atmosphere in which the customer has the feeling he is being treated individually, which translates to increase the number of stays, greater loyalty to the brand and more money spent with each visit.

Exemplary use:

  • membership in loyalty program of the hotel on gold level provides the customer with layer and frequency of higher level. With no additional fee, the member has access to Internet, can check his e-mail, take part in webinars, take advantage of videoconference in his room, download and watch films,
  • a guest who is on business trip, but is not a member of loyalty program, can take advantage of the system for business purposes – to run a videoconference and other tasks that require bandwidth. The hotel charges Premium fee for this level of access. It could encourage guests to enter loyalty program and buying more stays in hotels to gain free access,
  • the needs of an average tourist travelling with family can limit only to surfing the net, checking e-mail, using Facebook and shopping online. The basic access to Wi-Fi is included in the price of the room.
